Barbara Walters is a famous American journalist, writer and media personality who became famous as a popular morning news anchor on NBC's TV show "Today".
She is known for her distinguished style of journalism and scoop interviews.
Walters has been appearing on ABC's "Evening News" & "World News" and on evening news magazine '20/20'.
Walters graduated from Miami Beach High School in 1947.
In 1951 she received a B.A. degree in English from Sarah Lawrence College.
She opened her career as an assistant to publicity director and Republican activist Tex McCary of WRCA-TV.
After gaining considerable experience as writer and journalist, Walters moved to CBS writing for the network's "Morning Show".
In 1961, Barbara Walters worked as a researcher and writer for NBC network's popular "Today Show".
She got a breakthrough assignment to travel with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy on a trip to India and Pakistan which brought Walters wide recognition.
She gained reputation for her interviewing skills while at "The Today Show" and was nicknamed "Today girl".
